Flu Preparedness
Each year, WOHA plays an important role in the protection of our community against seasonal flu. Solicited by both private and public agencies to provide consultation, case management, and policy, we have also been an integral part of the response to this year's H1N1 pandemic.
The most effective measure of Influenza protection is immunization. Protect yourself, your employees, and the public through vaccination against both the seasonal and H1N1 flu.
H1N1 UPDATE: There are no longer restirctions on H1N1 vaccine eligibility. The vaccination is available to all patients on a walk- in, first-come, first-served basis. It is still recommended that high-risk individuals receive the vaccine as soon as possible. Please visit our clinic at your convenience during regular business hours. Contact us for further information.
ABOUT THE VACCINE: Know your options. There are two types of vaccine currently offered: inactivated (the shot) and live, attenuated (the mist) Do you qualify as a high risk individual? For detailed information about each vaccine, who should get it and when, read the CDC's information sheets (above). Knowledge is the best defense.
H1N1 BY NUMBERS: 1 in 6 Americans has been infected. Two thirds of the population is still not immune - or prepared- for a third wave that could arise as soon as January. Now is the perfect window of opportunity to help buid a herd immunity - take advantage of it! It is still important to get vaccinated.
